Abstract
A partir dos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Sociolinguística Variacionista (LABOV, 2008; WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006), objetivamos analisar a atuação de fatores linguísticos e extralinguísticos e sua atuação sobre a variação dos verbos existenciais existir e ter. Os dados são oriundos da fala de 50 informantes do corpus do projeto Português Oral Culto de Fortaleza – PORCUFORT. Através de análise estatística, chegamos a um total de 2.199 dados, sendo 392 (17,8%) ocorrências de existir e 1.807 (82,2%) ocorrências de ter. Os grupos de fatores relevantes para o verbo existir foram, nessa ordem de importância: posição do SN; tipo de registro; traço semântico do SN; concordância entre o verbo e o SN; tempo e modo verbal; e faixa etária.
