Abstract

The reactivity of the bis(trialkylphosphinimino)dimethylsilanes towards halosilanes or halogermanes is investigated. Depending on the nature of the halosilanes or halogermanes reactions occur with formation of dicationic four-membered ring compounds and/or functional silylated or germylated phosphine imines. A mechanistic interpretation of the experimental results is given.
