Abstract

The protective measure of residential care is applied, as an exceptional measure and transient in children and adolescents at risk as provided for in the Statute of Children and Adolescents. Stresses the need to increase the expertise and the priority based interventions for this specifi c population in order that the period of institutionalization does not contribute to developmental damage. Recently, the literature has highlighted the high incidence of depressive symptoms in this population.
