Abstract

This chapter presents a Vivaldi antenna for wearable applications in the field of biomedical imaging. The Vivaldi ultra-wideband antenna produces non-ionized radiation that makes them suitable for wearable healthcare applications. A wearable microwave head imaging system is proposed with a hat-like structure using an ultra-wideband antenna array. The antenna designed is simulated in Computer Simulation Technology microwave studio software and various results are analyzed. Vivaldi antenna is the best solution for satisfying the aforementioned needs of the ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna. This is a linearly polarized antenna and capable of providing wide bandwidth and high gain. The time-domain response is analyzed at various points using CST microwave simulation software. In future, Vivaldi antenna array can be designed with the help of corporate feed power divider to increase the gain. Wearable antennas are designed with textile material to monitor vital signs of the patient.
