Abstract

Time-reversal pulse compression (TRPC) has been previously demonstrated in the electromagnetic domain using two or more feeds and a multiport reverberant cavity acting as the time-reversal mirror. Here we present a novel technique using a single-port (1-port) reverberant cavity connected to an ultrawideband circulator (6.5–17 GHz) to perform TRPC, which to our knowledge has not been previously demonstrated. We demonstrate the 1-port technique in both simulation and measurement. The proposed system achieves up to a measured 3 dB increase in compression gain.
