Abstract

A compact printed ultrawideband (UWB) monopole antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is presented. The antenna design adopts a circular patch as the radiating element, a microstrip embedded with a U-shaped slot as the feedline and a defected ground structure (DGS) with a pair of L-shaped slots as the ground plane. The proposed antenna has been successfully simulated, fabricated, and measured. The reason why the notched resonant frequency points are produced is also investigated.
