Abstract

An ultrawideband (UWB) circular polarized (CP) antenna based on dual-layer magnetoelectric (ME) dipole is proposed. The final design contains a radiator with two layers in different structures, a pair of cross-placed Γ-shaped feeding probes, and a box-shaped reflector in a total size of 95mm (0.87λ <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf> )×95mm (0.87λ <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf> )×65mm (0.6λ <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</inf> ). Simulated results show that the antenna has an operating frequency band from 1-4.5GHz (127.3%) with a maximum voltage standing-wave ratio (VSWR) of 2.2. Superior antenna performance such as stable gain, symmetric radiation patterns, and high isolation between two ports are observed.
