Abstract

Paper reports sol-gel synthesis of terbium (Tb) doped calcium aluminate compound with varying concentration of dopant ions. Phase formation and structural analysis is done with the help of X-ray diffraction studies. To determine functional group and bonding present in the prepared material Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) study was done. Ultraviolet (UV), Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV), Visible (Vis) photoluminescence study was performed which demonstrated green emission under UV and VUV excitations. Synthesized phosphor shows intense absorption in UV region which makes it potentially capable to use in plasma display panels (PDPs) as a green component. Color tuning was observed for changing dopant concentration calculated by CIE-chromaticity diagram.
