Abstract

A vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) and deep-ultraviolet (DUV) fluorescence microwave plasma probe is described. The probe uses the principle of UV to visible wavelength down-conversion (fluorescence) of activated rare-earth salts. The probe provides both static and spatial comparative information on plasma UV radiation and microwave field patterns without the need of costly spectroscopic equipment.
