Abstract

Many-particle processes are considered from an «s-channel» viewpoint. After deriving an exact expression of then-particle differential phase space using longitudinal cluster masses and transverse momenta as independent kinematical variables, dynamics is introduced through general hypotheses which take the form of an upper bound invariant under simultaneous time and longitudinal dilatations. Different physical pictures, viz. multiperipheral and nonmultiperipheral situations, are characterized by the presence of ultraviolet and infra-red singularities respectively.
