Abstract

SummaryTwo types of leaf glands occur in Ruta chalepensis, those in the parenchyma, and others close to the epidermis. The former are schizolysigenous, the latter lysigenous cavities. In the former separation of the central cells throught breakdown of the middle lamellae is followed by lysis of these cells. In superficial glands, the central cells directly undergo autolysis. Secretory products are observed in both instances as lysis goes on.
