Abstract

The study of ultrastructural changes in the nerve tissue on experimental brain injury in animals with a different immunobiological reactivity of the body [I, 2] revealed that in rabbits sensitized with the brain antigen dystrophic changes in the perifocal zone of the inJury are more marked than in control animals, and that in desensitized rabbits they are considerably less marked than in sensitized rabbits. The development of brain edema in the inJured zone commences later in desensitized animals, proceeds more slowly, and the edema is not so marked as that in sensitized animals. The dystrophic changes in the neurons of this region are also less marked, but the most important observation is that the repair processes commence considerably earlier. To solve the problem of the possible action of desensitizing preparations on the progress of the traumatic process, we used aminazin as one of the preparations of the phenothiazine series, which is characterized by a wide variety of action and its ability to change the reactivity of the nervous system [3-9]. Moreover, we studied the action of aspirin, which according to literature data [10-18] prevents the development of anaphylactlc shock in animals with an increased immunological reactivity of the body and shows a direct action preventing the formation of the antigerr-antibody complex.
