Abstract

The present study reports the post infection changes caused by Altemaria alternata (Fr) Keisler infection in Ixora coccinea L. var. bandhuca Roxb. The hyphae are intercellular and branched. The hyphal cytoplasm contains mitochondria, with narrow cristae, circular nucleus and ribosomes. Host cytoplasm contains hexagonal crystalline inclusions, mitochondria with sparse cristae and large ellipsoid lipid inclusions in the early infection stages. Mature stages of infection showed disorganization of entire cytoplasm leading to the agglutination of the organelles.
