Abstract
Cost-effectiveness of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm(AAA) ultrasound screening in the metropolitan setting has been demonstrated. Literature suggests that trained novices can reproduce abdominal aorta measurements comparable to monographers. This study aimed to determine if, after limited training, junior doctors could perform ultrasound AAA screening reliably for rural Australian population. We hypothesised that junior doctors would be able to achieve interobserver variability within 5mm in at least 95% of patients.
