Abstract

The ever increasing and widespread use of ultrasound has meant that ultrasound has become accessible to a wide range of specialist users in the healthcare environment. Having some understanding of ultrasound physics and how these principles are used to produce medical images is necessary if ultrasound is to be used as safely and effectively as possible. The authors using their experienced background in ultrasound education have provided a concise overview of ultrasound physics and instrumentation to the new ultrasound user in a simple and clear manner.
