Abstract
While no one user would need all the functions in such rich and complex software, my testing consisted of composing a complete piece in each program, and I made an effort to try most input and editing options over about a month of steady work. In the time I used Vision I encountered two minor bugs and two crashes; Performer crashed more frequently and was less than reliable in a variety of situations. Although subsequent beta copies were much improved, the first-release version was disconcertingly unstable. FreeMIDI worked well, but only after several days of troubleshooting requiring numerous contacts with technical support. Technical support (via Compuserve) was excellent from Mark of the Unicorn, while Opcode's was not always completely satisfactory. Occasionally, problems sent to Opcode seemed to be forgotten, even after, at their request, I sent a file for examination. Vision will run on any Macintosh with a minimum of 4 Mb of RAM.
