Abstract
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of the ultrasound images of intrahepafie cholestasis in elderly patients with hepatitis E. Methods The Ultrasound image manifestations of 512 elderly patients (older age-group)who diagnosed the hepatitis E were retrospectively analyzed over the past decade, and compared it with those of 238 young and middle-aged patients (young and middleage-group) in the same period. Results Ultrasound image manifestations of two groups were hypoeeho of liver as well as hypereeho of intrahepatie portal tube. sheath systems (Gilson systems). Ultrasound image showed that the ineidenee of gallbladder stones and gallbladder cholestasis in older age-group was higher than that in young and middleage-group [14.45 % (74/512) vs 7.98 % (19/238) and 22.66 % (116/512) vs 10.50 % (25/238)](P < 0.01). And the time of gallbladder cholestasis in older age-group was signifleandy prolonged (P < 0.01).Conclusion Non-filling in the gallbladder could be the characterisfic for the elder patients of hepatitis E with intrahepatic cholestasis, and be given the ultrasound examination as soon as possible to establish the diagnosis of intrahepatie cholestasis.
