Abstract
Purpose: Animal models of osteoarthritis are extensively used both to investigate disease pathways and to test novel therapies. Accuracy of intraarticular (IA) delivery of putative DMOADs plays an important role in the success of drug development in preclinical studies, since it reduces variability, increases reproducibility and minimizes the number of animals required. IA injections in small animals are traditionally done using anatomical landmarks to identify needle position thus requiring trained personnel and being prone to error.
