Abstract

Ultrasound (US) can potentially guide set-up verification for treatment of facial or cervical neck disease. Currently, thermoplastic masks that provide patient-specific immobilization for head-and-neck radiation therapy do not allow easy access for US probe contact with the neck or face. The purpose of this study was to compare immobilization provided by an experimental thermoplastic mask with modified structural support and perforated, custom-cut portals for US access to a conventional mask.
