Abstract

Abstract The heterogeneous nano-catalyst Cs2.5H0.5PW12O40, with an average particle size of 22.2 nm and surface area of 49.16 m2g−1, was prepared under ultrasound irradiation and characterized by IR, SEM, EDX, XRD, BET and TGA. The nano-catalyst (2 mol %) was applied to synthesize some β-amino ketone derivatives in good yields at room temperature. These derivatives were characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, IR and UV spectroscopies. Moreover, the structure of 3-(4-bromophenylamino)-1-phenyl-3-p-tolylpropan-1-one was studied by single crystal X-ray determination. The products of undesirable side reactions resulting from 1,2-addition, polymerization and bis-addition were not observed.
