Abstract

Urinary tract diseases are considered to be common affections in cats. Cats are usually suffered from urinary diseases such as urolethiasis, PKD, interstitial cystitis and renal neoplasia, so this paper was performed to determine the impact of those diseases on the clinical and hematological and biochemical parameters of cat. In addition to determination of the usefulness of ultrasonographic examination as a diagnostic aid in diagnosis of theses urinary affections in cat. This study was preformed on 200 cat aging from 6 months to 15 years old of both sexes. Those animals were clinically suffered from dysuria, periuria, pollakiuria, stranguria, hematuria, anorexia, vocal signs,those cats were admitted to a private clinic in Bohira governorate.Blood samples were collected to preform hematological and serum biochemical analysis. Whole blood samples were collected for analysis of HB(%), PCV(%), erythrocytic and total leucocytic count , while serum samples was used for analysis of serum urea nitrogen and creatinine. In addition ultrasonographic examination was performed to detect its usefulness as a diagnostic aid in diagnosis of such affections. Our results revealed that clinical signs of cats affected with urinary tract diseases were dysuria (98/102; 96.07%), periuria (90/102; 88.23`%), pollakiuria (98/102; 96.07%), stranguria (87/102; 85.29%), hematuria (96/102; 94.11%), anorexia (55/102; 53.92%), vocal signs (62/102, 60.78%), vomiting (32/102, 31.37%), pyrexia (58/102, 56.86%), hypothermia (46/102, 45.09%) While hematological analysis showed that changes in RBCs, Hb%, PCV %, total leukocytic and platelets count among different groups and serum analysis showed that increase levels of BUN and creatinine in different groups.
