Abstract
TGS crystals with different levels of phosphate doping are grown and ultrasonic studies have been caried out on them. No significant variation in the absolute velocity values have been observed in TGS on phosphate doping; but the temperature dependence of velocity in the critical region shows marked deviations. The sharp increase in velocity obtained at Tc for pure TGS is broadened in doped samples and this broadening is larger for the sample with intermediate doping level. This can be attributed to the increased internal field due to doping which shows a maximum in the intermediate doping levels. Reported pyroelectric and dielectric studies are in agreement with these results.
