Abstract

Ultrasonic multifeature analysis has been investigated in prostate cancer detection because of its ability to measure physical properties of biological tissue. We conducted a feasibility study to determine if this ultrasound technique can also quantitatively assess radiation-induced changes inside the prostate gland. This study was undertaken with the ultimate goal of developing a noninvasive imaging technique to evaluate tumor control as well as radiation toxicity in prostate cancer radiotherapy.
