Abstract
Volumes of mixing, isoentropic compressibilities, acoustic attenuations and viscosities are reported on mixtures of various isomeric octanols and octane at 298.15 K. The data are interpreted in terms of competing effects of the alkane chain taking up the ‘free’ volume in the system and the disturbance of the distribution between cyclic and linear structures and monomer forms in the mixtures.
