Abstract

Violet phosphorene is a new 2-dimention material, which is the most stable allotrope of phosphorus. With number of lone-pair electrons, violet phosphorene could be a superb candidate for gas sensor. Here, violet phosphorene was firstly applied for gas sensing. The bulk violet phosphorus was fabricated by chemical vapor transport and exfoliated by tap method and ultrasonic method to violet phosphorene. Then it was combined with graphene to sensing the NO and CO gas molecules. The results demonstrated a high sensitivity of 35.12% (gage factor of 7 × 104), and high sensing selectivity ratio of 1.8. The sensing mechanism was explored by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. This work revealed the immense potential of violet phosphorene as a new gas sensing material.
