Abstract
This paper reports the confirmation of the level of blind rectum in 16 cases with imperforate anus and fistula by B-mode ultrosonics. Thirteen cases with perineal or vestibular fistula were diagnosed by making the rectal pouch distended with water injected through a catheter in the fistula. Three cases with rectourethral fistula or vesical fistula were diagnosed by direct visualization of the urine in the bladder under ultrasonic scan.In 93.8%of the series who had a ultrasonic estimation of the level of the blind rectum conformed with the measurement during operation.The FC line and the fistula tract could be visualized.It is reliable to diagnose rectovesical fistula with ultrasonics. Associated deformities may also be discovered at the same time. Key words: Anus imperforate; Rectal fistula
