Abstract
The variation of ultrasonic attenuation Δα versus bias strain is measured during cyclic bias deformation of polycrystalline 99.999 wt% Al and Al-0.025 wt% Mg alloy at room temperature. The interaction between dislocations and point defects is analysed in the light of the dislocation string model. Δα is caused by the vibration of dislocations. The point defects and the cyclic strain amplitude influence the variation of Δα together.
