Abstract

Ultrasonic-attenuation measurements have been conducted on high-purity cadmium single crystals in both the normal and superconducting states. These studies have been made with longitudinal sound waves propagated in the 0001, 1010, and 1120 crystallographic directions. Analysis of the data indicates the presence of a single frequency-independent superconducting energy gap associated with each crystallographic direction studied. (AIP)
