Abstract
The ultrasonic absorption properties of water + n-propyl alcohol mixtures at 0, 10 and 20, and water + isopropyl alcohol at 0 and 20°C are reported over the frequency range 1.5 to 230 MHz. For both systems, there is no excess absorption at low alcohol concentrations but the absorption increases rapidly at higher concentrations, passing through a maximum. The relaxation curves have been analyzed using two relaxation frequencies. Both low and high relaxation frequencies for both mixtures have minima in the same mole fraction region where the relaxation strengths have maxima.
