Abstract
Successful operation of a phaselocked loop is demonstrated using a travelling-wave laser-diode amplifier as a 50GHz phase detector. Optical gain modulation in the laser diode amplifier and an all-optical clock multiplication technique using a silica-based guided-wave optical circuit are used to achieve the extremely highspeed operation. Also discussed is the possibility of more than 100 GHz operation
