Abstract

In this work, we developed the as-cast triple-phase Al40Cr15Fe15Co15Ni15 HEA composing of B2, BCC and σ phases. The triple-phase Al40Cr15Fe15Co15Ni15 HEA shows an excellent strength-plastic combination, with yield strength of 1454 MPa, compressive strength of 3628 MPa, ductility of 38 % and specific yield strength of 266.4 MPa cm3/g. These mechanical properties of the Al40Cr15Fe15Co15Ni15 HEA were attributed to the combined effects of solid solution strengthening, precipitation strengthening and grain boundary strengthening caused by high Al atom concentration. The outstanding mechanical performance makes the triple-phase Al40Cr15Fe15Co15Ni15 HEA an aussichtsreich engineering material.
