Abstract

A triphenylamine-based tri-branched derivative named 1,3,5-tris[p-(4-N,N-diphenylamino)vinylbenzene]benzene (TPAVBB) with intense two-photon excited fluorescence (TPF) emission was investigated by means of UV–Vis, one-photon/two-photon fluorescence. The maximum two-photon absorption (TPA) cross-section of derivative TPAVBB in DMF solution was measured to be 546 GM at wavelength of 800 nm, which is the most commonly used wavelength in two-photon photopolymerization (TPP) and TPF cell imaging fields. Pump–probe and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy were employed to investigate the ultrafast responses of the tri-branched derivative. The formation and evolution processes of the intra-molecular charge transfer state were determined to be approximately picoseconds and several 100 picoseconds domain. The results indicate potential applications in TPP and TPF imaging fields.
