Abstract
The materials with self-trapped exciton (STE) emission are considered to have great prospects in application of lighting, due to the large Stokes shift and wide emission band. Here we report a novel STE emission material CsAgCl2 that can emit warm white light with a spectrum covering almost the entire visible range. At room temperature, the peak wavelength of its emission is about 625 nm, and it exhibits a broad half peak width up to 235 nm. A warm white LED was prepared using a 268 nm UV LED as the excitation source. It shows a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 4062 K and a color rendering index (CRI) of 93. The results indicate that CsAgCl2 is an ideal material for high color rendering lighting.
