Abstract

An elliptical ring antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide line for ultra-wideband applications is presented. The wideband performance is achieved by extending the length of the elliptical ring's major axis. The elliptical ring antenna has a 2:1 VSWR (return loss <10 dB) from 4.6 to 10.3 GHz and has an average gain of 4.48 dBi. The antenna radiation patterns show a stable variation within its operation band. The parameters determining the antenna wideband characteristic are discussed and the measured performance is presented.
