Abstract

Stripline technology is considered among the most commonly used guiding structures in various applications due to its low cost, low profile, and power-handling capability. The measurement of stripline structures typically requires coaxial connections with good performance. This letter presents a field-replaceable stripline transition enabling both the measurement and low-profile connection simultaneously. The proposed design is set to operate with good performance up to 20 GHz and is only limited by the used SubMiniature version A (SMA) connector. We use a Teflon seal to ensure compatibility with both the standard coaxial connectors and the low-profile direct connection. The innovatively designed structure provides a matching level beyond 20 dB and an insertion loss of 0.2 dB/inch for the back-to-back configuration. An experimental prototype of the design is fabricated and measured, for which a good agreement between measured and simulated response is observed.
