Abstract

A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) equal power divider using rectangular rings of different impedances on microstrip line is proposed in this paper. It is demonstrated that 3 dB powers splitting from one input port to two output ports is achieved. In addition, good impedance matching at all the three ports and excellent isolation between two output ports are obtained over the specified 3.1–10.6 GHz UWB range. The simulated and measured return loss is approximate 55 dB at design frequency (6.84 GHz). The average insertion loss, and group delay are around 3dB (including the 3-dB power-dividing insertion loss) and around 0.19 ns over across the UWB. In addition, the isolations between the output ports are approximately 18 dB at design frequency (6.84).
