Abstract

In this paper, an innovative ultra-rapid resistance welding process was proposed for the bonding of polypropylene (PP) plates to alleviate the dilemma of edge effect. The ultra-rapid resistance welding of PP plates was conducted under different heating time (th) and diameter (ds) of stainless-steel (SS) wire in this research, the SS wire of ds = 0.6 mm and th = 1 s was separately selected as the most suitable heat transfer implant and welding time. The edge effect was proved by the interface morphology at different positions of the joint and the thermal simulation results of COMSOL.
