Abstract

Underwater imaging is an interesting and challenging topic in field of lidar due to the absorption and scattering of light by water, which decreases the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of effective laser echo signals and thus reduces the imaging distance and quality. In this paper, an ultra high SNR cluster LiDAR technique for the underwater targets 3D imaging is proposed. The results of the formula derivation and calculation indicate that the SNR can be increased by 10 log <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(\boldsymbol{M}\times N)/k$</tex> dB of the clustered LiDAR. Based on the theory of the cluster, the imaging quality can be improved by the analysis and simulation. Therefore, the research of the cluster LiDAR has the significance for the underwater targets 3D imaging in the future.
