Abstract

Carburizing combined with shot peening (SP) were applied on the 20CrMoH steel, and the rotary bending fatigue (RBF) mechanisms of the modified (Carburizing, SP, Carburizing + SP) 20CrMoH were systematically analyzed. Results indicated the combined treated specimen obtained the microhardness of 1020 HV0.2, the residual compressive stress (RCS) value of −1429 MPa and the RBF strength of 1.05 GPa. The prolonged life of the combined treated specimen is attributed to the dislocation strengthening, stress strengthening and surface integrity improvement. The RBF modes of the combined treated specimen are S-mode and II-mode, and its modes mainly depend on the residual stresses.
