Abstract
Strut-and-tie models for simply supported deep beams with or without web reinforcement are proposed. The ultimate capacity of deep beams is very sensitive to the manner of modeling nodal zones and selecting an appropriate effective compressive strength. In this study, the new effective compressive strength and nodal models for the detailing of the CCT-nodes are also presented.The validity of the proposed model is examined by comparison with experimental results in many other works which yielded most of information on behavior of deep beams published to date, and good agreement between measured and predicted values by the proposed models is obtained.
