Abstract

U. Niggemann discusses the (quite limited) reception of Achaemenid Persia in political and theological debates in 17th century CE England. By means of one example dating to the era of the Glorious revolution, he shows how episodes from Achaemenid history were embedded in contemporary disputes and what functions the reference to them fulfilled.
