Abstract

Gastric ulceration is a commonly observed sequela of stress and may lead to serious conditions. Relationships between stress gastric ulceration and ulcer disease remain controversial. Ulceration induced by a stressor is dependent on both physical and psychological aspects of the stressor and on previous experiences. Mechanisms underlying gastric ulceration include peripheral and central neuroendocrine systems, in particular the dopaminergic system.
