Abstract

Putin’s Russian Federation carries on the legacy of the Soviet Union in terms of its aggressive policy of military intervention in the internal affairs of sovereign states. The attack that Putin’s regime launched against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 has become the final testament to its imperialist barbaric nature, which for the longest time Kremlin tried to hide with an elaborate political and diplomatic ruse. It is clear now that Kremlin’s insatiable appetite will not be satisfied with Ukraine. Putin and his henchmen lay claim to geostrategic dominance and dream of bringing back the world, where all key decisions were made in conformity with Moscow’s wishes. Today the world has faced a civilizational challenge to de- mocracy that Ukraine is currently protecting in a non-metaphorical battle against a global hybrid terrorist – Putin’s Russia. Therefore, we perceive current situation in the world as a battle of civilization forces with extracivilizational evil, spawning from the territory of Putin’s federation. In our opinion, juxtaposing civilization with extracivilizational forces is the key factor to understanding the global envi- ronment of the 21st century. The fabric of governance manifested by an illusion of a state, which is currently internationally addressed as the Russian Federation, is a never-ending source of contemporary interna- tional crimes – wars, terrorist attacks, hybrid-messianic aggressions, etc. Moscow pursues an aggressive public policy using a multitude of technological communication-content capabilities to transmit Kremlin’s narratives and to shape desired public opinion in almost every country across the globe. Therefore, the in- ternational community faces a number of challenges, mainly finding ways to effectively neutralize the communication-content impact of Putin’s regime, developing joint vision of physical deterrence of the global hybrid aggressor and rendering it impossible for the Russian Federation to return to totalitarianism in years to come.
