Abstract
Ukraine, like so many countries, has recently achieved its long sought after independence and is attempting to cope with the problems and readjustments that this necessarily brings. For this importance to be fully recognised, the concludes, Ukraine must begin to act as a coherent and viable state in order to play its vital role in the security of Europe and the wider world.
