Abstract

The United Kingdom has signed a new international convention on the safety of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. The agreement, signed in Vienna on the 40th Anniversary of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), sets tough international obligations for the management of these materials to ensure the protection of both the public and the environment.
