Abstract

The planned acquisition of MBCC Group by Swiss construction chemical giant Sika has been put on hold while UK regulatory authorities make an in-depth assessment of whether the deal would be anticompetitive. Sika agreed to buy MBCC, the former construction chemical business of BASF, from the investment firm Lone Star Funds in November 2021 for $5.9 billion. Sika says it now aims to complete the deal in the first half of 2023 rather than by the end of 2022.
