Abstract

This study aims to determine the resistance of natural dyes and to determine the length of time of resistance of natural dyes of ikat woven fabrics in wet preparations of plant tissues. This study used the method of description and direct experiment. The design used a complete random design (RAL) with 2 treatment factors, namely plant dye and length of coloring time. Coloring plants are turmeric (Curcuma longa L) and mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni (L) Jack.,, and the length of coloring time is 0 minutes, 60 minutes, 120 minutes, and 180 minutes. Data analysis in this study is descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative. The results showed that the natural dye of ikat woven cloth in East Noemuti District consisted of yellow color extracted from turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma longa L), maroon color extracted from turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma longa L) added lime and detergent, red color extracted from mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni (L). Jack) can survive wet preparations of spinach (Amaranthus tricolor) and corn (Zea mays) plant tissues and the length of time of dye resistance to wet preparations of spinach (Amaranthus tricolor) and corn (Zea mays) plant tissues which shows the best results is 180 minutes.
