Abstract

In this paper, a low cost antenna radiation pattern measurement setup in the UHF band is analysed. Since the Antenna Under Test (AUT) is being measurement in an standard office environment, the effect of multipath propagation is significant. To mitigate its effects, a time domain gating method is implemented and tested. A standard horn antenna and a Vivaldi antenna are measured. The two AUTs are measured with an accuracy of ± 1 dB which is an improvement from the ± 5 dB without the gating method.. Nevertheless, further investigation must be carried out to set the practical limits of antenna Q, AUT quiet zone, measurement uncertainty and time.
