Abstract

In this paper, an X-ray camera is presented based on a UFXC32k readout chip. The camera combines high speed (≈ 28 kfps), low cost and compact size (2 cm × 15 cm × 3 cm), enabling it to be used in applications of a large area detector. The above-mentioned parameters were achieved mainly by using a USB 3.0 for measurement data transfer. As a core of the camera, a custom soft processor was used to generate readout chip control sequences. This solution allowed for a great simplification of the camera hardware and firmware development. Moreover, thanks to its universality, the soft processor can be easily applied in the cameras based on other readout chips.
