Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues of feelings and emotions and contained in the rich scientific heritage of Stefan Szuman, described in the context of his pedagogical and psychological achievements. It presents the scholar’s biography, and then characterizes his scientific achievements in the field of psychology and pedagogy. Due to Szuman’s particular interest in children’s artistic creation, his views in this field were discussed, with particular emphasis on the importance of feelings and emotions that accompany children and young people in creating and receiving works of art. Then, the characteristics of teachers’ personal traits according to Szuman were also made. In his opinion, teachers’ professional work should focus on good aesthetic education of students in schools. The views of the Polish psychologist on the role of art in adult life were also presented. The article indicates those elements of Szuman’s views in which he spoke about the participation of feelings in the process of creating and receiving works of art.
